Memory Motel (The Blower's Daughter)

You're just a memory of a love
That used to be
You're just a memory of a love
That used to mean so much to me

I'm sure you've all been there. Probably on both side in some period of your life. And it doesn't matter if it is a lover, a friend or a family member.
The story's always the same.

At first someone moves (but not necessarily) to a different city, country or even a continent. It doesn't really matter, because with all the technology we have today you can hear (and see) each other whenever you want. For free.
And you do. At the beginning it's almost every day. You miss each other, you cry, you still have a lot to talk about.

But suddenly it's not almost every day, it's maybe once a week. And that's fine. That probably was the intensity of your relationship before one of you left. So it's not a big deal.

But it gets worse, much worse.
Twice a month, once a month, only birthdays and major holidays... Until it slowly fades away into texting. Once a month, only birthdays and major holidays...
And then one year someone forgets to text/text back. That's when it's over.

(And so it is
Just like you said it should be
We'll both forget the breeze
Most of the time
)

The saddest part is that none of you realized that your relationship was dying. Or the moment when it all started and ended.
You'll realize it when you suddenly meet and both say to each other at the same time: "Hey, what happened to you? Why do you never call?".

And you wouldn't know the answer. None of you.
Because the answer is so simple: life. That's what happened. The show went on. And it's not the first time, nor the last. Far from the sight, far from the heart...
I know it's sad, but it's true.

I'm sure that everyone of you have at least one person that used to mean so much to you. And that relationship is now over. Not because you fought, not because you hurt each other. It's over for no reason at all.
And you know what? Fuck life! It's not how it should be.
Pick up the phone/Skype/Viber/whatever and call. You know it makes sense!
